tl;dr: Apple announced a new iPad mini with an 8.5-inch OLED display (optional nano-texture), the A20 Pro chip with upgraded Neural Engine for Apple Intelligence, IP67 water/dust resistance, a landscape 12MP Center Stage front camera, Wi-Fi 7, and fast charging. It starts at $699 (Wi-Fi) and $849 (Cellular) in 128/256/512GB configurations, with pre-orders October 28 and availability November 6.
HN Discussion: ↓Apple is unjustifiably locking 120Hz displays to Pro models ↓Price increases and 128GB base storage make this a bad value ↑Despite flaws, this is genuinely the biggest meaningful iPad mini upgrade ↓Hardware design flaws like camera bump and thinness are poor tradeoffs •iPad and iPhone screen size lines are converging into a continuum
