Docker Agent(github.com)

tl;dr: Docker has released `docker-agent`, a CLI plugin for Docker that lets users build and run AI agents defined declaratively in YAML, with support for multi-agent orchestration, MCP tool integration, and RAG. It's provider-agnostic (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Bedrock, local models via Docker Model Runner, etc.) and agents can be packaged and distributed via any OCI registry. Ships pre-installed with Docker Desktop 4.63+, or available via Homebrew and GitHub releases.
HN Discussion:
  • ↓Agent harnesses are oversaturated and derivative, like old JS frameworks
  • ~Orchestration isn't the real problem; agent coherence and drift matter more
  • ↓Confusion about how this differs from numerous similar sandbox/agent offerings
  • ↓The tool is too brittle/immature to be useful right now
  • ↑Potentially useful for reproducible research or Docker-specialized workflows
